On Saturday February 4th Mt. Seymour was the venue for the first Canadian edition of the Vans Hi-Standard Series. The contest featured some pretty decent riders and consisted of an original big air format where riders were judged on individual style and no rotations over 720 were permitted. The sun was out and it was an amazing day to be up on the mountain! Below are a few frames I managed to shoot from the event…

This past weekend Baldface Lodge (located in BC, Canada) hosted the Red Bull Supernatural which was a contest designed by Travis Rice. The idea is to take snowboarding contests to the next level by creating a course that no one has ever seen before. The invitation-only event drew 18 elite riders, who fearlessly threw down on a 40-degree slope created exclusively for the competition. In the end the one and only Travis Rice ended up winning… Rice is becoming a household name in the world of snowboarding with his most recent movie The Art of Flight by Brain Farm Digital Cinema, which is worth checking out.

I recently worked with a talented crew of creative people at Global Collective Design Inc. They design and create the brands of Arson, and Orb Clothing. I was hired to photograph their outerwear for their 2012 Winter Catalogue and Look Book. It was a crazy few days of shooting but it all worked out in the end! A few shout out’s are in order… Creative Director Noel Fox, Catalogue Layout/Production Rebecca Dodgshon, Models Jen (Key Model Management), Kendall (Richard’s) and Jaclyn. It was also a pleasure working with the talented stylist Deanna Palkowski and amazing hair & makeup artist Tamar Ouziel!

I have put together a small tribute gallery for Sarah Burke. I had the privilege of photographing her at the 2010 World Skiing Invitational Superpipe on Blackcomb during the TWSSF. I did not know her personally, but I can say that her energy and passion for the sport she loved was evident through my lens… Such a tragic loss. My heart goes out to her friends and family. I was fortunate enough to photograph the wedding of Nick and Christine in Cancun, Mexico. It was a small wedding with only a few friends and family members, but it was action packed right from day one! We spent a week at The Royal Cancun and it was fantastic! The food was great and the service was even better. It was a unique experience and my first destination wedding that I have photographed. I also experimented with my underwater housing for my Canon G10 (point and shoot) and I was pleasantly surprised with the results… Click HERE to check out the slideshow from their BIG day!

Tonight was the opening night of the 2011/2012 NHL Season, the Canucks played the Pittsburgh Penguins and lost in a shoot out 4-3. The Canucks also lost the last game of the previous season and a chance to win the Stanley Cup at home vs the Boston Bruins . I would like to share a series of images that I created from the night of Game 7, June 15th 2011. You can view the gallery by clicking HERE…

I met James Collister just over a year ago at the NSMBA grand opening for the trail Bobsled on the North Shore. We talked about doing a creative shoot together and although it took a while to find time to make it happen, we ended up having a blast and are making plans to shoot again at the end of the summer! You can check out the images from our recent shoot in Squamish by clicking HERE.
